About Pam

Pam Burks As a business person ...

Pam Burks launched her business career as a marketing representative for the IBM Corporation. At IBM, she successfully developed marketing and sales programs for the banking, insurance, manufacturing, retail, and public sectors. Highly reputed for its marketing and sales training, IBM provided Pam a working knowledge of how to identify and meet her clients' business needs at all levels of the organization.

Pam broadened her general management scope by founding various new business ventures. During her tenure with GTE Corporation, she was a principal on the venture team to establish GTE Electronics Funds Transfer Services, a provider of electronic financial services to the banking and retail industries.

In establishing her own company to provide professional speaking and training, Pam relied on her initial career in education, as both a teacher and educational consultant. She credits her experience as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for a nationally recognized human resources consulting firm with expanding her entrepreneurial vision and the impetus to build her own firm.

After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University-Bloomington, Pam completed her Master of Arts degree in Counseling and Guidance Services at Ball State University.

Pam holds affiliations with the American Society of Association Executives and Indiana Society of Association Executives; Meeting Professionals International and its Indiana chapter; American Society for Training and Development, Central Indiana chapter; Indianapolis Convention and Visitors Association; Rotary International; Family Service of Central Indiana Board of Directors; and, Indiana University Alumni Association, where she currently serves as president of the IU Singing Hoosiers Alumni Council. She has been named to Outstanding Young Women of America.

As a professional speaker ...

Since 1992, Pam has spoken to numerous association, corporate, and not-for-profit audiences. Her presentations include motivational and educational topics, ranging from professional and personal communication to cultural change and transition to interpersonal relationships and self-awareness.

Pam actively participates in the National Speakers Association. She was President of the New York Tri-State chapter, 1999-2000, and was named its Member of the Year for 1998-99. She also was President of the Indiana chapter in 1995-96 and was honored as its 1995 Member of the Year.

Currently, Pam serves the National Speakers Association as Chapter Liaison for three states. She is co-editor of the "Ideas that Work" column in Professional Speaker magazine. She also represents the Meetings Industry Council both at the national and local levels.

Pam has spoken for the American Society of Association Executives Management & Technology Conference and served as both instructor and dean for the ASAE School of Association Management.

Building on her past experience in planning meetings and events, Pam has served as the program chair for both the New York and Indiana chapters of the National Speakers Association. Her meeting planning skills earned her selection as the logistics coordinator at the 1997 NSA National Convention. In 2002, she chaired the Indiana Society of Association Executives Annual Convention.
